Ali Gohar is the founder of Just Peace Initiatives in Pakistan. Ali completed his second Master’s in Conflict Transformation as a Fulbright Scholar from Eastern Mennonite University Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA. He also co-authored “The Little Book of Restorative Justice” in Pak- Afghan context, originally authored by Prof. Howard Zehr
Ali has recently been awarded the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding (CJP) Alumni Award for Outstanding Service. Ali refers to himself as the “rehbar” of Just Peace Initiatives which is the Urdu word for a guide, someone who shows the path. Through TV programs, workshops, conferences, speeches, and publications, Gohar has sought the integration of modern thinking (such as respect for women’s rights) with Pakistan’s community-based traditions of solving problems and promoting reconciliation. |
